Magnitude 6.1 earthquake hits off coast of Japan
FUKUSHIMA, Japan – A day after a powerful earthquake along the Pacific Ring of Fire hit Mexico, a magnitude 6.1 quake struck off the coast of Japan. Wednesday’s quake hit at 4:37 p.m. local time, or 8:37 a.m. PT, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Its epicenter was about 200 miles off the coast of Japan, and about 315 miles northeast of Tokyo.
