The Van Andel Museum Center opened in 1994 as the principal exhibition and public programs facility of the Public Museum of Grand Rapids, a municipal museum of cultural and natural history. Founded in 1854, the Public Museum preserves and exhibits rich collections, culture, social and economic history of Western Michigan.

WHERE TO START? We would suggest that you begin your visit to the Van Andel Museum Center on the 3rd floor and work your way down to the 1st floor. Don’t forget to drop by the Cafe (on 2) and the Museum Store (by the front door). We would also suggest that you allow approximately 2 hours for your visit. See whats new... and old!
